![]() The driving itself is of course the most important part of any racing game, and it's here where the game shines. After last year's WRC 9 made significant improvements to the officially licensed rally racer, WRC 10 iterates on the winning formula, presenting another fantastic experience - even if it is a little rough around the edges. I’m also more of an amateur player, so I recommend that you watch a review video from of the racing YouTube channels, as they better explain some of the games shortcomings(limited cars, limited sounds, inconsistent ai, career mode).Īlso, it loads insanely fast compared to dirt rally 2.Developer KT Racing has found its footing with the WRC series. I have seen complaints about the sound design and car sounds compared to dirt. When I tried to play Dirt rally 2 again after playing WRC 9 for a while, I realized I was just bottoming out l2 and r2 a lot when I used gas or brake. WRC 9 really rewards correct gas and brake modulation. They add heavy resistance when your brakes or engine are damaged, however, they really shine when it comes to brake and gas modulation. Especially when you’re driving on slick surfaces like ice or fresh rain, you feel that feeling of weightlessness as you start to lose traction. The haptic feedback isn’t crazy strong, but it is spot on at times. I was a little worried because I heard dirt 5 made better use of the dual sense, but after playing WRC 9, I am really impressed with how they chose to implement the dual sense features. I also feel like the stages are more challenging and varied compared with Dirt Rally 2. I feel like they really captured how exhilarating rally is with the camera positioning and how they portray speed. ![]() If you have a PS5 and you like rally games, you should definitely give it a try. I was mainly interested in experiencing the dual sense features in a rally game, but I have been blown away by how great of a rally game it is, even as a huge Dirt Rally 2 fan. I’m super impressed with WRC 9 coming from Dirt Rally 2. I don't see this as a widespread problem so your results will most likely not match mine. I have played with in-game HDR options and I have to have the brightness turned way down in game to get anything normalish. This is on a 65" Samsung Q70R LED (other games' HDRlook AMAZING on it for a mid-range TV). The menu starts out too bright and it seems the range goes beyond what I have calibrated for every other game. One side note: HDR in Dirt 5 is somewhat broken to me. It really feels "right" without being stupid hard. The stages are really well done (some better than Dirt Rally 2.0 in my opinion). WRC 9 is really well done for traditional rally. ![]() There is no traditional rally at all (the most you will get is a time trial "rock climbing but not rock climbing" event). It feels like "take vehicle and throw around to get to end". Both do wonderful in their own ways.īoth are fun. Dirt 5 wants all the bass to rip apart the ground, and WRC wants you to hear the subtle noise of gravel being hit in the wheel wells. WRC 9 does not have a 120HZ mode to my knowledge, but both games are really smooth.īoth games have a decent audio mixing. The subtle feedback is enough to communicate what the car is doing.ĭirt 5 does have a 120HZ TARGET mode (it doesn't hit 120hz as far as I know, but it does do pretty well). WRC 9 is more subtle with the triggers: your LT will feel when you lose grip and it feels subtle but well done. ![]() It fits the attitude of the game well: brash and obvious. Dirt 5 uses the triggers violently (in a good way).
